Underdog Appreciation

Unfortunately, not everyone who owns a project car is lucky enough to also own daily driver. Even those who own something to get from point A to B, they may not always be the most reliable since most of the money tends to go towards the project car, instead of investing in maintenance on their daily.

For me, one way I always make sure I give my daily the nurturing it requires is to have a fun daily that I look forward to getting into everyday. One that when I am going from A to B I take the long way or completely pass B all together just to keep driving around a little while longer.  I could have gotten an older Honda or something cheap to get around in or a truck to be able to tow my project around with but enjoying my car on a daily basis is a high priority for me, especially considering there are days where I will drive around for hours, no exaggeration.

I recently became a BMW fanatic. Last summer I had to drive a customers 06 e90 330i home for the night to help set readiness monitors and I fell in love with it. I needed to get myself into an e90. I would absolutely love to be able to daily drive a e90 335i or e90 M3, but that just isn't realistic financially for me.  I had, at the time, recently sold my black 05 Evolution so all I had was my white 03 Evolution which I had spun a bearing in at the track, so I was currently driving one of the loaner cars from my work. After that night of driving their 330i I started searching non stop to get myself into one.

I would describe the e90 330i as the perfect daily driver for me. Originally attracted by the wide hips, lower stance, and concave wheels it was the car's handling that hooked me.  It obviously has that stock car body roll but this thing just sticks.  I picked rwd due to already having an awd vehicle and in my opinion it just feels a little tighter and more responsive over the awd models. I may just be crazy though. I was warned by everyone I know this past winter about the rwd and staggered wide wheels in the snow, but I put new tires on it when I got it and as long as you drive it like it is a rwd car in the snow, I drove it home in 5 inches of snow and it didn't slip once. I was seriously impressed!  It was also amazing having heated seats last winter, which would warm up before I left my drive way! I will never go back to owning a car with no heated seats!  I have taken it on a few longer road trips now out of state and it gets great gas mileage and the seats are super comfortable on the back and toosh, I don't get nearly as sore or uncomfortable as I do in friends cars.
The 330i may not be necessarily quick but it has the perfect amount of pep in it's step to have fun but not enough to get into too much trouble.

Do you guys/gals own your perfect daily or what would it be if you could? Realistically speaking ;)

 TGIF!!
