One Last Ride

Other than taking pictures at events I typically only ever take pictures of my own cars and projects.  In which case, when my friend Adam asked if I would take some pictures of his Volkswagen Gti Mk5, I started to panic.  I didn't know what he really wanted or expected and since he asked me instead of the reverse I really felt pressure to do my best.  I also don't know many locations around here since everything gets built up in this town so mostly I was freaking out about location.

Nonetheless, If you know Adam you know he is a laid back and go with the flow type of guy.  I never venture to Harrisburg too often alone, being a girl and hearing some stories, so I am not familiar of the good areas and where good spots would be that we wouldn't get kicked out of.  Thankfully, he was more so familiar with it, so we headed across the river and was able to find a few good spots.

Compared to taking pictures at events, I really enjoyed taking pictures of Adam's car because I know him and felt like I was able to get more personal with the shoot.  You know the roller coaster of events they've been through with the car. You know all the little details and toys they have modified it with. You know their personality and in turn can see if bursting throughout their build. You know all of the late nights, blood, sweat, and tears that have really gone into getting the car where it is today.  Trust me, he has had more than his fair share of issues with this car to keep it running.

While riding in the car to different locations I started to take more notice to the little details that wouldn't be seen from just peering in. He had painted the trim moldings to match his original exterior midnight purple paint.  Recently installed was a P3 vent multi-gauge which displays a ton of information from your cars obd2, which is really nice to have at just a quick glance down.  He's rocking a Grip Royal steering wheel and a Billetworkz Breathe Easy shift knob as part of his One Last Ride build which honors a lost friend Cory Burgess, rest easy.

This year Adam had decided to dedicate his build to an enthusiast who many hold close to their heart.  He's really gone above and beyond with his project he calls One Last Ride and in keeping Cory's memory alive.

The car is bagged and dipped in the HKS purple Cory had done and is sitting on his old set of 1552 wheels Adam had bought from him.  Adam also had a vinyl of Cory done at 717 Wraps that is displayed on the rear window.  I didn't know Cory personally but I can not say I know one person who didn't know him and think of him as a true inspiration.
