H2oi 2016

My favorite time of the year came and went in the blink of an eye. H2oi has become so much more than just a car show. Each year around this time H2oi attracts people from all over the world, literally, to Coastal Highway in Ocean City, Maryland. Separate from hosting a very popular European car show on the weekend, of which I have never actually attended, the event brings so much more to the table.
The year leading up to H2oi consists of #h2oiprep. Which means as it states, prepping your car or self for the weekend of H2oi. Prepping may include getting your coilovers or air ride dialed in, waiting 6-8 months for your custom built wheel setup, or picking the perfect wrap or dip color for an exterior that pops. When I say prep for yourself, I mean for the overwhelming feeling that is bound to be felt throughout the entire weekend.
H2oi weekend is for most an extended weekend that typically will start Thursday and end Sunday. Aside from the actual show, weekend activities may include but are not limited to cruising with friends in your or their car revving your motors, flooring it through first gear to the next light, or talking among fellow enthusiasts sitting in the stop and go traffic next to you, trading information and laughs. It may include standing on the street side egging on burnouts, snapping rolling shots, or recording snapchats when the red and blue lights flash on. It may include getting cute and making inside jokes with girl friends getting ready to go to Seacrets or just late Dunkin runs. It may include drinking all day or late throughout the night, I may or may not have stayed out until past 4 most nights. You never need as much sleep when you're doing something you love. It may include having family dinner at least one night, staying in and cooking. It may include meeting a lot of really cool people from all over the world, I met more people from 10+ hours away than were from the local tri-state area. It most likely will not include walking down to the actual beach, and most likely will always rain each year.
I have been thinking of moving across the country next year but I am betting that even if that happens you will still find me flying out to attend this event for the next few years. It is overall the best event I have ever been to. It's always weird to come back into town and seeing all the normal and boring cars. No exhausts waking you up, no police lighting up the night sky, no crowds yelling at you from the sidelines, and not nearly as many people with a common passion. I propose that all car enthusiasts move to one state so it's almost like H2oi every weekend... except maybe a little more responsible.
