Southwest Drift

Leaving work at the peak of rush hour on Friday evening made the drive down to Las Vegas a very long one.  Thankfully, I didn't technically have to arrive at the event first thing in the morning, so I tried to sleep in a little bit, which wasn't very successful.  When I finally arrived at Southwest Drift ProAm Rd 1, the drivers were still flowing through practice runs, so thankfully I hadn't missed too much excitement.

I ended meeting up with my friend Christian, who lives in Arizona, and who was kind enough to introduce me to some new friends.  A few of whom own Evos, so of course we all chatted for a moment.  As we started to walk out towards the action there was something to my left that caught my attention.  I stopped in my path to refocus my gaze away from the billows of smoke and screeching tires towards something that looked slightly familiar.

I only recently started following Raz (@snowhitevo) on Instagram about a month or so ago.  His project is something you don't see everyday and something I personally have always wanted as a project of my own.  It's his snow white rear-wheel drive Evo with a supercharged LS3 powering it.  Of course, I took a few minutes to gush over it.

It was also cool to see DJ's (@driftaru) 2JZ powered WRX tandem with the Evo, definitely something straight out of a dream.

I would have to say that the best part about the whole day, including getting lobster red sunburned, would be that Raz ended up winning the round.  To see other people who actually use their Evos to their full potential will forever make me happy. This kid has my full support and I can't wait to see where he ends up with that beast!
