Spring Cruise Week Cont.

After reading an article done by Larry Chen at Speed Hunters in black and white film where he had mentioned some of his equipment and covered a Just Drift event, I found myself studying all the articles he had done about film. Soon after that, I dug up our old Canon EOS Rebel S my Dad used to use on vacations and picked up some batteries and film.

Drift Nirvana was the first event I took the camera to and it died at the very first click of the button. Thankfully, I had brought my dslr, because there was also a Porsche track day on another course at Summit Point that day and I was able to practice my panning shots.

I proceeded to comb through ebay and found a good deal on a replica Canon body, which was ideal with the many batteries I had bought for my original one, since I kept thinking they were the problem, haha.

The second event I was able to attend that I wouldn't mind if none of the pictures turned out was Cruise Week in Ocean City, Maryland.  I posted about Cruise Week a few weeks ago but didn't have my film developed yet.

I had arrived Friday night, but my friend wasn't feeling well so we didn't venture out of the car too much, and it rained the next two days so all pictures were taken in the car for the most part.  They still turned out much better than I had expected them to, especially for mostly being at night!

I found shooting with a film camera to be very frustrating but also very satisfying. Frustrating, because every time I took a picture I would pull the camera from my face and look to see nothing but the black plastic door.  I kept wanting to make sure they were turning out okay and it is frustrating when you can't.  The satisfaction comes into play when you finally get the film developed and see the results with a sigh of relief that the whole roll wasn't a giant blur and you have some idea of what to do (I was so lost without the manual at first lol!)  I will definitely continue to mess around with film, I really love the grain look you get.  I'm hoping to save up some money to get some shots printed on metal for my room! I also recently inherited another film body with a few lens that I am excited to play around with, hopefully soon!

Thanks for checking in!
