My New Favorite Utah Spot
When family, friends, and I had ventured to Moab, Utah to do some camping a few weeks ago, we started by traveling through the Spanish Fork Canyon. There were so many textures and twisty roads that branched off of the main canyon road that I told myself I had to go back with my Evo at some point to check the area out a little more in depth.
I woke up at 5:30am, on my only day off, with the purpose to photograph my Evo in front of the Natural History Museum of Utah. There isn't an abundant amount of modern architecture in the Salt Lake City area so when I found the Museum I fell in love with the design of the building. The shoot didn't turn out exactly how I was hoping. Afterwards, I decided to head down to Yuba State Park, which is where I typically go off-roading with my Evo (pictures soon to come). I also have been wanting to get some pictures of myself with my Evo.. but without any audience. On my way South of Salt Lake City the Spanish Fork Canyon exit caught my eye and I decided to go explore the canyon instead.
About a half hour deep in the canyon and I caught a glimpse of a road branching off to the left that had a curvy road sign at the entrance. You know, that sign you always get excited about and prepare to downshift as soon as you see.
I have officially found my new favorite place to play around at. It's about a 16 mile stretch of non stop curves, hugging the mountains on one side with a cliff drop off on the other. At the end of the 16 miles and also branched off about half way through there were two dirt covered roads that were of a similar setup to the paved roads. I am not sure how far the dirt roads extend as I turned around on both of them after a few miles or so. Along the whole 16 mile stretch there are also numerous campsites and pullovers allowing you to drool over the view. It's so much closer than Yuba State Park and with many more twists and turns! Definitely a winner, and I definitely will be going back!
Lastly, I want to mention, if any of you are in the Utah area and would like to set up a shoot, let me know! I don't charge as I am building up my portfolio and need more of a variety than just my Evo. You can comment on here or DM me on Instagram @ohheyzk to setup something up. Hope you enjoy the set!
